Inspired by the Post-Punk revolution of the late 1970’s and the New Wave movement that followed thereafter, the band cut their teeth on LP’s from Orange Juice to Gang of Four, The Cure to Orchestral Maneuvers in The Dark and New Order as well as drawing inspiration from modern greats Phoenix and M83. The band can not only be judged by their influences but by the company they keep, sharing stages with some of the country’s finest bands including British India, Evermore, Art vs. Science, Grinspoon, Regurgitator and Antiskeptic. Their sound has attracted attention from American pop-rockers Eagles of Death Metal with Jesse ‘The Devil’ Hughes placing them in his top 10 Triple J Unearthed tracks. Their film clips have received slots on Chanel 10’s music video programs and gained airplay on Triple J, commercial radio, as well as being played on a number of local & community radio stations. With all members in their early 20’s, the group display a taste beyond their years, whilst maintaining a progressive, modernistic sound which is as much at home in clubs as it is in live venues. The Vagrant City Scandal are excited to announce the release of their brand new E.P. “WILDFIRE”.
