Meghan and the Achilles

Meghan and the Achilles
Independent
Producer: James Russell

‘The Achilles’ debut EP blends a pure indie folk sound with some slight dance and rock sensibilities to create one of Australian Folk music’s strongest debuts in recent years.

Lead singer Meghan was a solo artist for many years, before teaming up with her brothers to create what would become ‘The Achilles’. They would spend their early years together rocking out to gospel music in their family’s living room, in the small Southeast Queensland town of Oakey. These shared experiences and family bond are at the core of the purity of the EP. Many of the fans that have seen ‘The Achilles’ live at festivals such as the Big Pineapple, and Easterfest have all agreed that these latest songs are of the same calibre of similar acts such as Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers and Of Monsters and Men. From the first lines of the EP’s opening track “Since Summer Left”, the listener is immediately encapsulated by Meghan’s incredible ability to tell a story straight from the heart, with all the raw emotion that comes tied along with the narrative. It is this same heartfelt story telling that continues all the way through the EP, and that leaves you craving more afterwards.
