ONE of the most eclectic and interesting bands to come out of Queensland, Minor Elite has quickly garnered praise and fans for their rocking live performances. They have a huge sound encompassing dissonant rock and grunge with stunning melodies, memorable hooks and a distinctive vocal style.
Formed in 2009, this 4-piece alternative rock band from the Sunshine Coast reached #1 on the 2010 Triple J Unearthed Charts with their song Wind of Your Lips. Tomatrax, online music magazine and major Unearthed reviewer has listed Minor Elite at #4 on their playlist of top 45 songs of best new Australian artists for 2010, #14 on their Top 100 songs list, and #4 in the Top 10 Albums of 2010. The band’s debut self-titled 12 track album was released in August 2010.
With self-confessed influences from great rock bands such as Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, Minor Elite deliver a tight set of diverse originals with this new release. Echoes of ’90s grunge rock have been given a seamless contemporary kick, with songs such as ‘Dreamer’ and ‘Souncheck’, which were recently recorded and mixed at Heliport.
